HGRD Community Lot Irrigation System
Monday-08-05-2024- @ 04:53
The irrigation system (CLIS) for residential lots and common areas is owned and managed by the Herons Glen Recreation District (HGRD). The HGRD charges residents for the CLIS system in the HGRD quarterly assessments.

The HGRD no longer has an internal CLIS Irrigation Department for residents to contact. In July 2023, the HGRD contracted Mainscapes for the day-to-day operations, repair, and maintenance of the Irrigation System. The company has provided a customer service request process for residents to use.

For CLIS irrigation service requests please click on the link below:
www.mainscape.com/customercare/

By email CustomerService@Mainscape.com or by calling (800) 481-0096.

For best practices to manage the service requests and due to a high volume of requests it is necessary that you use one of the methods above to register your request. Mainscapes will respond to each request in the order they receive it.

Herons Glen SSEP Committee June Safety Tip 2024
Sunday-07-28-2024- @ 19:42
Summer Safety

Stay Hydrated
Dehydration is another safety concern during the summer months. Be sure to drink enough liquids throughout the day, as our bodies can lose a lot of water through perspiration when it gets hot out.

Protect Your Skin
Use sunscreen 30 minutes before going out. Reapply sunscreen every two hours or after swimming or sweating. Limit sun exposure during the peak intensity hours – between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Stay in the shade whenever possible.

Water Safety
Remember to always have adult supervision for children. Whether they’re in the pool or playing in the sand at the seashore, having someone who can help them — should an emergency arise — is essential.

Eye Safety
The sun’s ultraviolet (UV) light can harm the eyes. Wear sunglasses year-round whenever you are out in the sun.
Sun damage to the eyes can occur any time of year. Choose shades that block 99 to 100 percent of both UVA and UVB light.

Regards,
Craig J Woolley
Chair of the SSEP
Communications Committee

Report to the HOA Board June 4, 2024

The final and approved version of the article, “Understanding the HGHOA Architectural Review and Grounds Committees” was published in the May issue of the HG Newspaper.

The group provided comments for a revised draft article addressing what property projects need ARC or Grounds Committee approval so that residents have a “list” they can refer to. Changes will be reviewed at the next meeting and when appropriate will be sent to the ARC and Grounds Committee for comments.

Joyce noted that the Proxy Form revisions from the Committee are on a list of items for our attorney to review. She also mentioned that changes to our website may be mandated by Florida changes to HOA requirements.

A newspaper article about hurricane preparation, both for residents leaving HG and those staying, was approved by Craig Woolley of SSEP and will be published in the June issue of the newspaper.

Mike will take the lead on determining if changes are needed from the HOA or the HGRD on the Org Structures document so they can be sent to each Board for approval if needed.

At a future meeting, the Committee will explore use of Community TV Channels 901 and 902 for sharing information with residents.

Linda will compile a list of topics that our committee may be interested in addressing with articles in the HG Newspaper and Bulletin. The Committee will create articles as needed and work with the appropriate Committees to determine optimal timing.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 1:00 pm in the HOA Conference Room.

Respectfully submitted,
Linda Lynch

President’s Report June 2024
Sunday-07-28-2024- @ 19:39
June is typically a quiet time at the Glen and in southwest Florida in general. However, it is a busy time for our HOA office staff, the finance committee and your board as we work together to prepare and present the proposed 2024-2025 HOA budget which covers our expenditures from October 1st of this year through September 30, 2025. The proposed budget will be sent to the owners next month and approved in September.

Work continues on the installation of additional fiber optic cables in the front of our homes; the HOA office has published periodic updates as this project progresses.

The Origins of Flag Day
Sunday-07-28-2024- @ 19:39
Flag Day - the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777 - was officially established by the Proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson on May 30th, 1916. While Flag Day was celebrated in various communities for years after Wilson's proclamation, it was not until August 3rd, 1949, that President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th of each year as National Flag Day.

Securing the Garage Door
Sunday-07-21-2024- @ 13:05
In April, the Herons Glen Security Roving Patrol reported 79 garage doors left open between the hours of 11:30 pm and 3:00 am.

Is it a violation of the Declaration of Covenants to leave the garage door open all day? The answer is yes.

The Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions of Herons Glen Homeowners Association Article XIII, Section 2… requires that garage doors and/or roll down screens shall remain closed at all times except during ingress, egress, occupancy of the garage or during lot maintenance by the homeowner.

An unattended open garage is unattractive, very inviting to bugs, wildlife, snakes, and rats, and it provides easy access for criminals.

Do not leave your garage door open without the garage screen rolled down and remember to close and secure your garage door at night.

Solution for owners that want to leave the garage door open during the day-

Consider installing a roll down garage screen. Roll down screens allow for air flow, a little security and will help keep out the bugs, rats, snakes, alligators, and other curious critters.

Permitted type of garage roll down screens:

Solution for owners that want to leave their garage door open

Consider installing a roll down garage screen. Using a roll down screen allows you to leave the garage door open, complies with the covenants and standards. Other benefits to using a roll down screen is allowing air flow in the garage, a little security and will help keep out the bugs, rats, snakes, alligators, and other curious critters that like open garages.

Permitted type of garage roll down screens:

• Garage screens must be roll-up. Screen material must be an ARC approved TW80 series mesh or materials consistent with the TW80 series that provide similar opacity and thickness. Screen transparency should allow ventilation without providing the ability to see contents inside of garage while the screen is in the down position. Framing and mesh screen colors must be white, gray (light or medium), tan or beige. Slider panels or panels with access doors are not permitted.

Before installing, please fill out an ARC application and get your approval first.

Public Utility Easement & Fiber Installation

All properties have public utility easements. In Herons Glen the bulk of the existing public utility easements are in the front section of each property. The public utility easements contain lines and utility boxes and equipment that provide utility services what include electric (LCEC), water (LCU), sewer (FGUA) and telecommunications (CenturyLink). Each of the companies have access to the public utility easements for service, repair and even replacement of lines. The HOA has no control of their access to each of the property easements.

Centurylink is upgrading their lines to Fiber Optics. To do this they have a contractor IVYSMITH installing the Fiber Optics. This is not isolated to Herons Glen; it is work that is being done throughout Lee County and many other areas.

The installation does not affect the bulk cable/internet contract with Blue Stream who will continue to be the service provider for the community.

The contractor IVY SMITH we understand does restore the areas they have dug up or damaged and they are addressing any questions or issues reported to them by the individual residents. If you have questions about the installation, want to report repair work needed or any concerns please go to installer's website https://ivysmith.com/contact/customer-service/ https://ivysmith.com/contact/customer-service/ or contact their customer service at Florida- IVY SMITH- Customer Service Number:1-855-269-3982

• Customer Service Email: CustomerCare@IvySmith.com

Their site refers to ATT, but they are also contracted by CenturyLink/Quantum Fiber- https://www.quantumfiber.com/fiber-construction.html
