Golf Cart Battery Charging Tips - Things to Consider

Charge Your Batteries After Every Use
Make sure to charge your batteries after every use. The best way is to charge overnight after you are done using the golf cart for the day. Even if you have only used the cart for 10 minutes, you still need to charge your golf cart batteries.

Water Your Batteries Regularly
Depending on the type of golf cart battery you have, check them once or twice a month after installation to inspect the proper watering schedule. Usually, brand new batteries need very little water in the initial period, but with regular use, they will need water nearly every month. During summer, check your batteries every week as the hot weather may evaporate water faster.
Watering is an important factor for the batteries. Add water when the batteries are completely charged. It's important to add water at the right time and in the right amount for optimal performance.

Cleaning Batteries
Cleaning and regular maintenance of the golf cart batteries are important. Your batteries may collect some dirt, dust, and grime, which needs to be removed. You can use a brush, a solution of baking soda, and pure water to clean the batteries.

The following topics were discussed at the March 24, 2023, SSEP meeting. Meeting was held in the HOA conference room.

The SSEP committee topics of discussions:

1. There was discussion regarding the golf cart accident that resulted in the death of a resident. The SSEP will continue to send out safety briefs to educate the residents and bring awareness to the possible risks and hazards.

2. There was discussion regarding the speeders and reckless driving. The SSEP will send a list of topics that the HOA can review. 4. The AED demonstration with North fort Myers FD will be set up either the 8th or 15 of November depending on the FD availability.

Delivered at the HOA Board Workshop April 4, 2023

The Finance Committee met on March 23, 2023.

The cost of the Memorial Project the HOA was $20,000. We are receiving orders for memorial bricks from residents. We currently have 8 orders. We are passing on these orders to the engraving company.

Resurfacing of Herons Glen Blvd is expected to begin at the end of April. Replacing the bricks at the front entrance and guardhouse is estimated to cost $11,000. Joyce will check on this and get back to the Finance Committee. There is some sentiment to eliminate the pavers.

To date Hurricane Ian costs are $192,000 in cleanup expenses. We still have signage, tree work and ditch cleaning expenses. In addition, fence repair is needed along Herons Glen Blvd. The estimated total cost is $265,000.

The gatehouse generator project is currently in permitting. We hope to have this completed by the end of May.

The first meeting of the Long-Range planning sub-committee was held this month. For the first time in many years the Capital Pooled Reserves includes increases in the Long Range Plan Draft.

The next regular HOA Finance Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 @ 1:30 in the HOA Conference Room.
