Completed Events
- The HOA Activities Committee hosted their Activities Fair, chaired by Sue Gregor, on Sunday, January 19th, 2025. Thirty-two groups participated, including an active Tai Chi class on the Ballroom deck and residents engaging in a game of Bridge. The activities represented at the fair were pleased with the turnout, as many residents enrolled in the various activities showcased. Additionally, potential residents, accompanied by their real estate agents, toured the Ballroom and were introduced to the excellent activities available at Herons Glen.
- The Apple technology class originally scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 2025, rescheduled to March 18, 2025, had to be cancelled due to the speaker’s illness. Looking for a new instructor for a future event.
- The annual Shredding Event was rescheduled to Monday, March 3, 2025, due to the forecast of heavy rain on the original date.
- The Ice Cream Social is scheduled for Sunday, April 6th, 2025. The committee is finalizing details for the event, including ice cream options and entertainment.
Future Events
- The 5K details are under consideration, including resident interest, costs, location, sponsorships, T-shirts, routes, waivers, SSEP involvement, and date to hold the event.
- Golf Cart Madness – June 2025 – With the upcoming Cart Rally being sponsored by the HGRD Resident Events Committee and the inability to use the Ballroom due to scheduled renovations we will look at organizing our “Golf Cart Madness” event later in the year.
- Old Fashion Ice Cream Truck: An ice cream truck that plays music and travels through the community offering various ice cream bars, including Good Humor bars, Gelato, Sandwich bars, and doggie ice cream. They operate on Saturday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The committee consulted with SSEP, who reported no safety concerns. More details to follow.
- Tangled Roots Potting Bar: Tangled Roots supplies pots and plants (succulents/cacti) for residents to assemble and take home. The event can be held outside in a parking lot or in an activity room, depending on interest. Planning for May or June.
- Gardening Class: Riverland Nursery can accommodate up to 40 people at their location without any charge. They will provide instructions on which plants are suitable for our area. Riverland Nursery is located at 13005 Palm Beach Blvd, approximately 30 minutes away. We will gauge interest and, if residents are interested, schedule the class for next year.
- Joint Barbecue with SSEP – Support Hometown Heroes – Summer 2025
- Christmas decorating contest including Candy Lane – Jeff Jensen- Winter 2025
- Christmas Golf Cart Parade 2025- The committee expressed concern over the limited number of golf carts participating last year. They discussed ways to boost participation, such as involving various activity groups (Pickleball, Bocce, Marbles, Sororities) and asking dancers to march in the parade. They also suggested having the Choir perform in the ballroom during the awards ceremony, singing Christmas songs. A minimum number of golf carts will be set for the parade to take place.
