Report to the Board March 4, 2025
The following topics were discussed at the February 28, 2025, SSEP meeting. The meeting was held in the HOA conference room.
- Manager Joyce Gillespie- No report.
- Liaison Russ Long – Reported that Ron Decker was approved to fill the open seat from Barry Glaudel as a full time SSEP member. Daniel Hamilton was also approved as head of CERT and Karen Wills as assistant chair. The board also recognized the successful Firewise Community Day event.
- Daniel Hamilton was introduced by Chair Woolley as our new CERT leader. The SSEP thanked him for assuming his new role.
- NFMFD will be using Herons Glen as a training facility for their dive team. HGRD gave the okay regarding the use of the HGRD ponds.
- Firewise 2026 date has been set for February 9, Chair Woolley will finalize the date with the HGRD.
- The SSEP will meet with North Fort Myers Fire department and EMS to see what type of equipment they may need. There was discussion about buying them equipment from some of the funds that are raised by Firewise. SSEP will address this later.
- CERT has requested tourniquets for the CERT bags. Chair Woolley will address this with the HOA board. There will be a CPR/AED class held on 3/27/25 at 2 pm in the Ballroom.
- Mr. Ron Decker will research the possibility of having a news station come to Glen for a Hurricane awareness event.
- Firewise 2025 raised $10,013.00 which was a record. There will be an appreciation BBQ for all Volunteers and SSEP members. We will be cooking up what food was left from Firewise.
- Firewise, USA action plan for Herons Glen was approved, the new plan will be inserted into the SSEP’s binder.
- CERT will hold a READY class with LCSO on 3/28/25 in the ballroom.
The next SSEP Next meeting will be held on February 28, 2025.
